Thursday 9 April 2009 - Deer Park Mountain Shelter

Beautiful sunshine today - melted the snow wonderfully and made hiking nice. Saw some bear tracks near the shelter down the trail from where we slept last night - it had been walking around where people had hung their food very close to the shelter.

Planning on going into Hot Springs tomorrow morning (we are only 3 miles away) so gonna get some food - was a really nice evening though, was finally able to sit out and have a campfire. Really looking forward to a good feed in town as I've lost around 10lb since starting the trail - fancy a good burger.

Just had a nip of Bourbon from Odysseus before bedtime which was very welcome - should help me sleep...

  2. Hi mate,

Only just noticed you've created this, so sorry for the slack effort at following your strole!

Looks like things are pretty special over there- very jealous!

Things going ok over here and reckon wandering the back streets of Salford are nearly as hairy as encountering the odd grizzly! Finally managed the 3 Peaks in the dales as well- this time without injury!

Hope all's still going well and keep the updates coming!

  3. Greg - I'm still a big A+W fan - can't get enough of the stuff. Got off the trail into town the other day and drank two cans before I took my pack off. Gotta love that root beer.

Jim - well done on the 3 peaks - was thinking of it the other day. I'll conquer it on my return!
